BlueElection is a wiki, established as a repository for election information and coverage for the Democratic Party (Wikipedia link). You can get involved by providing information and coverage of your congressional district, your state election proceedings and policies, contact information for various political action groups, and grassroot information. Not only that, but you can create a user page for yourself, and share your interests with one another.
Please visit the site at http://www.blueelection.org, and contribute. More about BlueElection below the fold.
A lot of talk and energy is put into the discussion of 'elections that matter'. People debate endlessly, it seems, about the best places to focus time, money, and other resources. Personally, I believe that ALL elections matter, from your local school board, city council members, state representatives, and onward to the highest offices. It falls to us to be involved, and to ensure that no office goes unchallenged, that even in the reddest regions, a Democratic name appears on the ballot. We have to remind voters that, no matter the area, we exist there. We have to give other Democrats hope, and show them that we won't give up on them, no matter where they are.
The true victory for the Democratic Party won't come from regaining the White House alone. It will come in the communities that are the hearts and minds of the voters. It will come by introducing ideas of fairness, equality, and personal freedom into the discussion, and making it clear that the real values that matter are present here.
Democratic voters and candidates range the spectrum from Christian to Atheist, from evangelistic to analytical, from businessmen to lawyers to nurses to teachers. Someday, they may even be you or me, and we'll want to know then that the work we put in now, the work to create that unified presence everywhere, will be felt in our favor as well.
Thank you, all.
