Now this is just too dorky for words.
Here we have the Official Ask the White House website. Now, in just about any Administration, people have questions to ask of policy makers and implementers. And as we know, many of us have questions about the activities of the Bush Administration.
And usually they have people that, you know, actually work for the Administration. Which is probably appropriate, since the first sentence on the site is Welcome to "Ask the White House" -- an online interactive forum where you can submit questions to Bush administration officials.
But not today. In the great tradition of such political entities as ESPN, The Sporting News, CBS Sportsline, today's Ask The White House host is...
Nolan Ryan
Unfortunately, nobody asked him about how Chalabi threw a curveball to the Administration, or how Rice was picked off by Clarke, or Halliburton's squeeze play. Nope, just really lame baseball fluff - not even good baseball stuff.
Of course, they did this with racecar driver Michael Waltrip in January, too. Can you say pander?
In such serious times, with such serious implications, couldn't the White House focus a little better on what they actually should be doing? If I want baseball fluff, and sometimes I do, I know where to go to get the real stuff, and it's not the White House.
And Nolan Ryan - go back to selling pain medicine.
