The "more" refers back to a previous diary entry where I described my encounter with this surprisingly liberal country boy.
This time, we mostly talked about bow hunting (something I've never done but have a lot of respect for). He said he preferred it to gun hunting because you are "within the animal's natural defensive zone against predators" instead of hundreds of yards away, looking through a scope. Nice spirit of fair play, I thought.
Still, politics inevitably came up: he griped that "They captured Saddam, now gas goes up eleven cents a gallon. Bush & Cheney think it's safe to pay off their oil buddies now that people are distracted." (Seems unlikely, but I didn't discourage the theory! LOL)
He also very correctly observed that it was a blunder to lay off 100,000 (his number--sounds about right) Iraqi soldiers--that this was the main reason for all the insurgent attacks.
I eat this stuff up with a spoon--thought I'd keep you guys up to date!
