I had this eerie feeling that I had seen this all before. People breaking into stores and looting, pushing their booty down the street on carts, people with no water to drink, sewage in the streets, no electricity.
Then I remembered, that was Bagdad, right after we declared victory. All the looting was blamed on the lack of troops and poor planning (where were those flowers and candy?).
I think this is the same problem. The Bush administration, in an effort to solve it's poor planning in Iraq, stripped our homeland of protection, hoping it wouldn't be noticed. Poor planning , along with tunnel vision, (looking only at covering their ass in Iraq and saving taxcuts for the rich) has resulted in catastrophe. This time the catastrophe is at home.
I don't blame the republicans for Katrina. I do blame them for the aftermath. This didn't have to happen.
