David Duke's bodyguard
recently told AP reporter Cain Burdeau that the imprisoned former klansman is considering running for Congress from the Louisiana 1
st Congressional District after he is released from prison this April.
The 1st district encompasses the district that sent David Duke to Louisiana state House in his last successful election, and is widely considered the most conservative district in the state of Louisiana. It consists of Jefferson Parish (New Orleans suburbs) and a few parishes north of Lake Ponchartrain. These parishes have a common claim to settling all the middle class whites who fled the city of New Orleans in the seventies and eighties to escape "crime and poverty."
David Vitter (R)is currently occupying the seat, but will run for the US Senate next year hoping to replace Sen. John Breaux.
A second possible candidate for the seat is failed gubernatorial candidate Bobby Jindal, who just moved into the district and plans to make an announcement of his final decision next week.
