Ever run into one of those people who are trying to convince themselves of something? So in order to do that, they tell you about 'the truth' over and over? Maybe they're trying to see if whatever it is sounds ok or how other people react to it or if wishing will make it so.
Such is apparently the case with - the decider. If you have noticed, Bush has said this over and over. Things like 'I'm the decider. My job is to make decisions.' Someday his wish may come true but not when it comes to making agreements with foreign leaders.
Here's a really interesting quote from today's online CBS News. The article outlines an interview with Geoff Hoon, who was defense secretary in Prime Minister Tony Blair's government from 1999 until 2005.
Hoon said the British side had not comprehended Cheney's influence in the U.S. administration.
Even when Blair and President Bush had agreed on some matter, "sometimes... the decision actually came out of a completely different place."
"And you think: what did we miss? I think we missed Cheney," Hoon was quoted as saying.
Hoon didn't give any specific examples. We can't be sure it was Cheney who caused the decider to redecide his decisions. Hogwash! you say. I know who my decider is. It's that man behind the curtain in the White House. No, not that one - the one who sits in the oval office, not the one down the hall.
Maybe the Great Decider just walked out of the room after talking with Blair and had a sudden pang of angst. 'Ohh I need to redecide now.' I'm sure that since he's the decider, no one else could cause him to undecide. Ya think?
