I finally got an appointment with the Oracle at Delphi.
"I'm here to see the Oracle."
The receptionist took my card and pointed towards the corridor.
"The Oracle is free, you can go right in."
"This isn't quite what I expected. There aren't any doric columns or a flame. I'm not sure I'm in the right place."
"You wish to cancel your appointment? The Oracle's 2:15 is already waiting."
"No, no, I want to see the Oracle."
"You can go right in."
Inside I found the Oracle sitting on a rug with a small flame and two doric columns as backdrops."
"Come in, sit down. What is your question?"
"Oracle, when will the war end?"
"When you say it ends."
"No, no. I mean what time, date."
"When you say, when you decide the time."
"Just like that. I can't make the war end. It's not up to me."
"It's your choice. It has always been your choice. Either you choose to exercise your free will or you don't. I have answered your question."
"It's more complicated than that. I can't just up and end the war, it's out of my control."
"Then you choose to let others determine your fate."
"No, you don't understand..."
"I do understand. It's very simple, either you choose free will or you don't. It's determinism or indeterminism. It's light or dark, it's positive or negative, it's yes or no, it's on or off, it's life or death, it's binary. Make your choice."
"But..."
" Look, I gotta go, I made my choice."
"What did you choose."
"You have to ask?"
"So what do I do now."
"Make your choice. It's all up to you. Oh, and tell your 2:15 that the 2:30 is already here."
