As any person contemplating law school knows, entrance is depedent largely on your Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). One of the sections on this test is known as 'Logical Reasoning' in which the testee must correctly identify the flawed reasoning of each question.
Day after day, I am beginning to feel like the Bush Administration and its Republican leadership are a massive 'Logical Reasoning' test. As a matter of political survival, Rove and Bush actually DEPEND on the fact that most Americans don't follow the news, nor do they concern themselves with difficult policy choices. If Americans were more educated or even more attentive to their government officials, our President would be facing impeachment charges.
The Bush Administration lie of the week(end) is often employed by simple-minded supporters. It goes like this: "It doesn't matter if you supported the war or not, now that our troops are fighting, we have to support them." This faulty little turd of an argument is known as a SELF-JUSTIFYING PREMISE. In other words, Republicans think you must support the war because of the sheer fact that we are fighting a war. As if all the objections reasonable people made to immediate war (no imminent threat, high costs, long occupation, rising Anti-Americanism) are somehow nullified by the fact our President didn't listen to our concerns and marched ahead anyway. As an analogy, imagine a burglar in your home saying "You have to let me take all of your stuff because I already made it through the front door". The error of reason is very clear...
Finally, if the Republican you are debating can only scratch his head at the above assertion, ask them this: Please explain to me, how putting our soldiers into a death trap, with inadequate resources and no long-term strategy is actually SUPPORTING our troops?!!! If you wanted to support our troops, wouldn't keeping them alive be a good place to start??
