With only 48 people voting against, the move to reconsider the anti-gay amendment (SR595) succeeded. Several people who voted to reconsider said they would vote against the amendment, but who knows. If this gets back out of the House Rules Committee for another vote, I think it will pass. The pressure from the fundies has been enormous.
This site has links to the numbers and e-mail addresses of the Rules Committee, as well as the e-mail addresses for all the reps (whether they voted yes or no). I have said in my e-mails that Georgia already has strong laws against same-sex marriage, that this is wedge issue politics and that even if they vote for the amendment, they are still in strong danger of being replaced by a Republican in November if this gets on the ballot.
