The GOP may have a bloody primary in their quest to replace outgoing senator Campbell, but it looks as though Democrats will too.
Ken Salazar, Colorado's attorney general and arguably the most popular politician in the state, will run for the Democratic nomination. That pits him against Rep. Udall as the two Colorado A-list Democrats face off.
Salazar would be the odds-on favorite for the Dem nomination and the general election, though many wanted him to run for governor. And lest anyone forget the importance of the governor's mansion, a two-term Salazar governorship would make him a key player in the 2010 redistricting battle.
Update (by Jerome): From the AP, Representative Mark Udall announced that he will not run for the U.S. Senate and will endorse Attorney General Ken Salazar's bid. For now, the contest for the seat turns to Lean Democrat.
