Anybody else checking out this debate?
I realize this is one of those races that Kossacks probably don't particularly know what to think about. I don't know much about Johnson other than recognizing him from his Dkos ad. I've seen McKinney because of the slapping the police officer incident, but also don't know much about her.
The debate, however, is pretty downright nasty.
The mudslinging is constant. I've learned nothing about their positions on any issues that may be of interest to the average voter. All I've heard so far is that Johnson takes money from landfill developers, while McKinney didn't seem to think the Civil Rights Act was important enough to show up to vote for.
On the plus side, Johnson says he's learned from his experience going through bankruptcy, whereas McKinney claims to have a better voting record for the people of Georgia than John Lewis.
All-righty then.
On style, I'd say Hank Johnson is measured and reasonably calm, whereas McKinney, though keeping her hair under control today, is keeping a well of anger as carefully concealed as she can, while presenting the kind of smile that makes me want to run away screaming.
I'm not in that district and don't know which one of them I would ultimately vote for, but it's interesting to see how the debate is unfolding.
