I am starting to think that the Lieberman resurgence over the past two weeks is not a blip on the radar, and that it poses serious problems for Kerry, Gephardt, and especially Edwards.
Over the past ten days , Lieberman has consistently found a way to stay near the top in media coverage. Currently, the story he and Clark are pulling out of Iowa has the most coverage of any other story out right now. While this is not a positive story about their campaigns, it is another in a long series of stories where Lieberman has managed to hold the attention of the press. His apparent continued ability to do this leads me to beleve that he will rise in other categories as well. For example, he has supposedly made a lot of money since Bob Graham has dropped out (rather, as a result of Graham dropping out).
A lot of people on this site think that Lieberman is next on the chopping block after Graham, but I disagree. I think that Lieberman's continued success will leave Edwards in the dust. Primary seasons seem to have a way of taking only five candidates seriously, and Lieberman's recent sucess would apparently guarantee his place among those five. I know Edwards will hang around to 2/3 no matter what, but I do not think even winning SC will do that much for him (if he actually does win SC).
