My mom gets a lot of mail from republican and right-wing fund-raisers, and I have finally figured out what to do with it.
My mom used to be more right-wing than Mussolini, until she turned 102 years old. That's when I moved in with her, and realized that she was getting an AVALANCHE of mail from right-wing fundraisers. She was on the list of the "Republican national committee', She was a 'platinum member' of the 'presidential task force', and a host of other bullshit orgs that put money in certain people's pockets. A lot of these orgs mail out of post office boxes in Frederick, MD, and have names such as 'Stop Puerto Rico Statehood!' or 'Stop Hillary Now!'
I tried returning them with 'do not send' or 'take me off your list' but they never stopped. I sent them back filled with gravel from her driveway, used dishwashing sponges, and other assorted stuff, but that didn't stop them either.
Finally, I settled on a routine; I would go through all of them, throw away the envelopes that require me to put on a stamp, then take all the other stuff and put it in the envelopes that say 'no postage required if mailed in the USA', making sure that the 'Stop Puerto Rico Statehood' went in the 'Republican Presidential Task Force' envelope and vice versa. Then I would mail them.
I don't know if they're getting the message, but it costs them something to send that stuff, and also to send it back.
There was so much crap coming into the post office that they took out the garbage can, because people were filling it with this stuff!
Any other ideas out there?
