The BBC (and others) are
reporting that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the hard-line mayor of Teheran, has won election as Iran's next president.
This may be just what Bush has been waiting for. We've had several diaries here (including mine) that Bush was preparing for war with Iran, and reporters such as Seymour Hersh have been describing Bush administration actions that only make sense as a leadup to war. It's even possible Bush helped push Iran into electing Ahmadinejad with his diatribe before the first vote that the election was undemocratic.
I do not like the looks of this.
