Here's an
interesting article on how support for the war is dwindling due to the impacts of the hurricanes.
The money quote though is from Anthony Cordesman, an expert on Iraq with the Center for Strategic and International Studies:
"If you pull troops out too quickly now, and you see the situation in Iraq collapse before the midterm elections, the impact is going to be far more serious than if you keep the troops in at reasonable levels."
Well...that's revealing now isn't it? Let's prop up this failing project to keep the electorate thinking that the "stay the course" president and his Repubican lieutenents aren't "cutting and running" like a bunch a 'o sissy cowards until after the election, then they start pulling out. I guess the Repubican constituency will fall for that. As always.
