Update [2005-6-15 16:59:9 by lawnorder]: - Someone suggested we write LTEs about our feelings about Bush abandoning the 9/11 victims and manipulating it for photo ops. I think it is a great idea: It will show WHY the Downing street memo is important
Remember the day after 9/11 ?
It wasn't about Bush.
It wasn't about Schiavo
It wasn't about GOP
It wasn't about evolution, gay marriage or school prayer
It was about being united behind our country.
It was about helping the victims
It was about catching the perpetrators
It was about saying "Never more"!
The entire Congress, dems and republicans alike sang our song
The entire world condemned the act and offered help
Muslims, Christians, Jews, Indus, Atheists all condemned the act
"We are all Americans" said the bumper stickers
The American flag flied proudly on yards across the world
Today... Americans buy Canadian shirts to disguise themselves when abroad
Have you seen Congress singing God Bless America together lately?
At home, we are more divided than we ever were in the last 50 years
Sep 12th 2001 seems like a distant memory, decades ago.
Sep 10th feels like it took place in a different century
Yet only 3 and a half years have passed
What happened to US ? How did we get here ?
And more importantly, after all that we have been trough:
Can we say "Never more" ? Did we catch the perpetrators ?
Can the victims and their families be in peace ? Has justice been made ?
Was it worth it ? The lives, the debt, the alliances lost, the good will squandered ?
That's why I want the Downing Street Memo allegations investigated: Because I remember what US was like before the Iraq war took US into this dark detour we are now. And I want to know when and why US got on the Iraq war path, abandoning the victims of 9/11
