Bastille Day in Dallas, Babeee!

Mon Jul 09, 2007 at 05:31:29 PM PDT

Hey, North Texas Kossacks (and any wannabees who want to drive or fly in to join us):

It's reminder time! We're just days away from our meet-up this Saturday here in North Oak Cliff.

It's hard to believe, but we're about six months beyond our first-ever Dallas-area Kos meet-up. When we met during the holiday season last year, we partied with the CSKendrick family, sucked down some Tex-Mex and margaritas, and generally had a great time.

Now that we're in the middle of an active presidential election cycle and the Bush library appears to be a fait accompli, it's time to do it all again -- so consider this your formal invitation.

This time, we're going international:

Bastille Day Blowout
Cafe Madrid
July 14, 7 p.m.
214 942-8272
408 N. Bishop #108
Dallas, TX75208
(At the corner of Eighth and Bishop
in North Oak Cliff's Bishop Arts District.

More below.

Mark your calendars, then come join us south of the Trinity for tapas and booze. Our neighborhood Cafe Madrid is fantastic, and comes with a seal of approval from fellow Kossack Dr. Chelo, whom I meet every couple of months for some interim, face-to-face Bush-bashing.

Those of you who joined us in December know how much fun we had -- and this gives those of you who missed it a chance to come and get to know some of the people who comment and diary here regularly. Since meeting him in December, I enjoy the Angry Rakkasan's diaries even more than before -- and it's a joy to be able to place Texas faces with names.

Kids are welcome, and the restaurant is huge, airy and light-filled -- and much quieter than Chuy's, so we can hear each other talk. Say things like my seven-year-old, who, as she sat down at the table, said, "Mom, are these people you recommended or trolled?"

So...July 14. Everyone reading this who lives within driving distance, mark yoru calendars, and come and join me and Dr. Chelo!

UPDATE: Here's Cafe Madrid's website, in case it helps you make the decision to head on our way...
