Almost in a news blackout, few realize that the
WTO, GATS mode 4 looks as people as a commodity to be traded. It's called services and the "movement of natural persons" and hardly anyone realizes that the WTO might supercede the United States authority to control it's immigration policy. This means that people will be commodities to be traded. Corporations will control the VISA status of workers and there will be no domestic policy based on labor economics or workers rights to control the wages or quality of jobs for a nation's citizens. This is huge, has everything to do with labor arbitrage and before those who don't understand the issue jump on this, has absolutely nothing to do with racism or other social diversity issues. It's about cheap labor, pure and simple.
Seven Senators are standing up to the WTO:
Democrats: Dianne Feinstein, Russell Feingold, Byron Dorgan and Barbara Mikulski.
Republicans: Larry Craig, Saxby Chambliss and Jeff Sessions.
May I say THANK YOU to these Senators and encourage others to offer these Senators your awareness and support.
Here is the IEEE-USA letter to discuss this disasterous policy.
