Juan Vargas doesn't seem to want to talk to Democrats, even though he's running in the Democratic Congressional primary.
So, this morning on KLSD radio, the local Air America affiliate, someone called in and said she had seen Juan Vargas out at a shopping center. Vargas is challenging Bob Filner for the Democratic nomination in the 51st District. The local morning show host, Stacy Taylor, has been trying to get Vargas to come on the air, but Vargas has so far ignored the invitation. Vargas, a termed out state assemblyman, has been largely funded by insurance companies and probably doesn't want to talk about that. The station has a "Where's Juan?" running gag going.
Anyway, another listener, Denard, who fills in on a Sunday show, hopped in his car and chased down Vargas, who had already left the first reported location. He got up to Vargas and offered to have him talk to Taylor. Vargas replied that he couldn't do it because he was holding a sign. Denard offered to hold Vargas' sign, but the offer was declined.
It's funny; KLSD is one of the most popular radio stations in this area, and about the only one that features progressive or democrat-centered talk. You'd think Juan Vargas would want to reach out to Democrats.
KLSD - Clear Channel sure has a sense of humor.
