Why isn't THIS option ever mentioned anywhere???
George Bush could choose to appoint different judges. It is really that simple. It has become apparent that the Senate is on the verge of imploding via the so called "Nuclear Option. It is unable to reach agreement about judges, or even the process of approving them. Meanwhile, the president stands by, encouraging his party to change centuries old rules regarding filibusters, without any thought about the ramifications of this change. He cares so much about the short term gain for his party, and so little about the long term cost to his country that he would rather damage the Senate than back down on his choice of judges.
Of course, it is no shock that George Bush does not think about the long term consequences of his actions (See Iraq...), but it is truly disturbing that no one in in the media or in either party points out to the country that GW has a way to pull the Senate back from the brink. I would like to see Moveon.org make TV spot that features one of those GW's "I'm a Uniter, not a Divider" commercials, and compare it to where he has brought our government.
