Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter need to have a talk with John Edwards -- and persuade him to jump back into the North Carolina Senate Race -- for the good of the Party.
A report from Political Wire explains:
Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) "insists that he will not get back into the race for his Senate seat now that he has abandoned his presidential bid, despite speculation among some Democrats," the Washington Times reports.
Democrats worry that North Carolina Senate candidate Erskine Bowles (D) "will have a hard time breaking the 45 percent support that he got in his 2002 race against Elizabeth Dole (R). Also, Mr. Edwards' popularity in the state has improved with his better-than-expected performance running for president."
Simply put, Edwards would have the best chance of holding on to that Senate seat of any potential Senate candidate. He says he doesn't want to run again, but if Clinton and Carter, both together, explained to him how important it is to hold onto that seat, perhaps he would reconsider, for the good of the Party, and the Country.
