Note: I'm grateful for the emails and comments ("Haven't laughed this hard on a blog in awhile," "This made my day") I've received about this new series. Frankly, I thought I'd run out of stuff to cheer and jeer...but every day brings with it a boatload of new things to rave about...and send my blood pressure through the roof. So thank you all for your kind words. And now, here's a new...
Dispatch from THE GREAT STATE OF MAINE:
Cheer's and Jeers FRIDAY!
JEERS to the 45% of registered democrats who still can't name a single candidate, even though Joe Lieberman has been a press mainstay for over 4 years. I Guess they're too preoccupied surfing porn or watching the Spice channel. Wake up, you asses.
CHEERS to "Bad Santa." At last...an antidote to the force-fed holiday treacle we're subjected to every year. I'll sit on Billy Bob Thornton's lap and pee on the floor with him anytime.
CHEERS to Wall Street. Dow tops 10,000 for the first time since stone age. My slim 401k thanks you kahndly.
JEERS to Halliburton. Pentagon audit shows Cheney outfit overcharged by $61 million for Iraq gas brought into Kuwait. All those who are surprised, raise your hand. Dick, put your hand down.
JEERS to U.S. attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan that have now killed 19 children. Press coverage as thin as one-ply toilet paper. But I'm sure relatives understand it was an accident (besides, we're AMERICANS).
CHEERS to Matt Drudge. Bash him all you want, he's got a helluva web site that's actually more balanced than many give him credit for. Developing...
JEERS to December 12, 2000---the day the Supremes handed W the keys to the White House. He hasn't betrayed everything he claimed he stood for...but he's close. Way to unite us, Pal.
CHEERS to "The Battle of Algiers" and not just because of the rhyme. Horrible dubbing aside, `60s flick is fascinating cautionary tale that shows why Iraq will not cooperate on our election timetable. Yet another lesson from those darn French.
CHEERS to Dick Gephardt. SC Rep. Clyburn endorsement helps his status as #2 candidate. Will this knock Edwards down a peg?
JEERS to The New York Post for this line in 12/10 editorial: "And he [Howard Dean] got to where he is by appealing to the Democratic Party's left--that is, anti-War-on-Terror--wing." No offense, but...screw you guys.
CHEERS to James Carville's new book, "Had Enough?" The Ragin' Cajun is as lively, angry and spot-on as usual. But do you really...ick...touch Mary at night?
CHEERS to the composers who write those stirring themes and stingers for the news shows. Crossfire. . .Meet the Press. . .NBC Nightly News. . .they stick with me for hours, how `bout you? CD in the works from Tee Vee Tunes?
JEERS to Jeremy Jaynes and Richard Rutowski. These boneheads are the first to be charged under Virginia's anti-spam law. Let's hope they spend the 5 year max in the slammer...and drop the soap often.
CHEERS to payday. I feel so guilty having to steal my booze Monday through Thursday.
Have a great weekend, folks. Stay away from dat flu bug, hear?
