I never have understood why the Republicans have latched onto tax cuts like they are the last lime on Tequila night at the local bar. It has always seemed like a dead-end issue to me -- after all you can only cut taxes so far. Even Republicans want to fund their special programs.
So, I challenge Daschle and Pelosi to take this issue off the table and call the Republican bluff. If the Republican party truly has an end-goal in mind, they should know what that end goal is.
Pelosi and Daschle should come out this session and say, "Enough of this pussyfooting around with lame tax cuts. Republicans control the White House, the House and the Senate, so tell us what you want the tax code to be. We promise full Democratic support for whatever you propose. If, you agree that this is THE tax code, and there will be no need to make adjustments in future."
I guarantee Republicans won't be able to do it, because without "tax cuts", they would have nothing to campaign on, so they would be completely unable to give a serious proposal and they would be exposed for the frauds that they are.
