You know there's alot of things wrong with our country.
The income gap, our reliance on fossil fuels, political parties that care more for their power (whether in majority or minority) than actually representing us, and this godforsaken war to name a few. But every once in a while I am reminded why this country is truly great.
I work at a greek/middle eastern restraunt. We have everything from gyros, greek chicken and salads to tabooli, humus, babaganoosh and falafel. The kitchen manager/second in command is a jewish man from Isreal who served in the IDF and was on a bus that was attacked by a suicide bomber. He has long term health issues from the attack and he decided to leave Isreal, to come here. The owner, and my employer, is a palestinian from Israel. Here in the US, they get along. Here they trust each other abd take care of each other. My boss man is a pretty nice guy, and I am quite amused to see the good natured back and forth between him and Rami, my kitchen manager. Boss man pokes fun at Rami about the jewish holidays he observes, and vice versa, Rami called out Ahmed for eating something today, while the sun was up, during Ramadan.
So here, it's not so hard for an Isrelie and a Palestinian to get along, and I think that's great.
