One of my biggest disappointments in the Repug's running things, is that they managed to drag down a man I used to have respect for.
I bought his book a long time ago, and enjoyed reading it. I remember thinking, this is a republican I could vote for. He seems to be 'real'. He seems to have integrity. He seems to care. He's a straight-forward truth-teller.
Where did this man go?
Is Colin Powell so caught up in being in office, that he isn't willing to step up and help America? Why doesn't he put 'loyalty' on the side burner, and move integrity and truth, back to the front burner?
While the repug's might be mad at him for speaking the truth on Iraq, and on this administration in general...the world will be better off in having someone that still has a shred of integrity speak up.
It may be his only way of redeeming himself for his actions in the lead up to Iraq. He would of course have to make some MAJOR mea culpas for his recent past, but if he plans to eventually let the world know what has happened, shouldn't he step up to the plate now?
I hope that people close to him are able to strip away all the politics that surround his life, and remind him of why he initially rose to a level of respect.
He used to tell the truth.
