I have lots to do today, blah blah BUT a couple of notes. The Clinton campaign is in big trouble in NH and here's why. Her story line of Experience and Working for Change comes out like this...'You can trust her because she has years of experience working for change'...and here's the problem.
It's the 'years of experience' which is running totally counter to the general public mood which is, the last thing we need is years of anything. The Bush years have taken a toll and every time they use that phrase they drive voters away. More on the flip
So why aren't voters flocking to Edwards. Edwards has certainly positioned himself right on the issues, he's a fighter, he speaks very directly. Here's my hunch.
People are hungry for inspiration for an America that could be so much better and closer to truth and justice and yes, apple pie. They want honesty and they also want to aspire again, to reach for something and Obama simply represents that better. It's not that Edwards is wrong or that Hillary hasn't worked on progressive issues, it's that the country wants a different direction and they want to feel better.
How is this playing out in NH today. Hillary has a crowd of about 500, not sure where Edwards is but I would bet at least that and here's what's happening with Obama. His event is at the Nashua HS auditorium which must hold 2-3,000 easily. And here's the killer:
The TV reporter was late getting there because of the MILE LONG traffic jam of people going there. That says quite a bit. There are more people waiting to get in then they can possibly fit. I'll even bet Obama goes outside before he leaves.
I could live with any Dem, it's all decent to good but Obama is pulling people, making it a movement, not about him, and like Dean, it's taking off only at the right time.
