It looks like business interests are planning on going after anyone who advocates putting people ahead of profits.

WASHINGTON -- Alarmed at the increasingly populist tone of the 2008 political campaign, the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is set to issue a fiery promise to spend millions of dollars to defeat candidates deemed to be anti-business.
"We plan to build a grass-roots business organization so strong that when it bites you in the butt, you bleed," chamber President Tom Donohue said.
How choice! The populist rhetoric coming out of all of the Dems (even Hillary) and sometimes, out of Huckabee, is scaring them. Isn't it amazing that the mere thought that politicians might put our interests ahead of theirs is starting to make them sweat?

My questions to all of you brilliant people here on Daily Kos is this: How do we best mobilize in response? How do we steel our candidates, so they won't buckle to pressure like this? Is a boycott of Chamber of Commerce members a good idea, or is their membership too large for that?
What about a letter writing campaign to Mr. Donohue? Might it be possible to convince him that he is on the wrong side of a huge political shift, and that this is an ill-advised strategy? Or is that too naive?
The passion, commitment, and smarts of the contributors to this site amazes me, and give me hope for the future. I don't know everything, and I don't have all the answers, but many innovative ideas, and some of the solutions can be found among the members of Daily Kos.
What are your thoughts on this? How do you think it will shape the candidates? Will it push them more to the right? Or make no difference at all? How do you think we should respond to this?
