Cnn just released its latest national poll... including its internals...
http://i.a.cnn.net/...
now, look at the questions, starting with number 7.
(RANDOM ORDER) Next I'm going to read the names of some of those candidates and ask how you would feel if each of them won the Democratic presidential nomination next year....
Barack Obama
Hillary Clinton
that's right, they aren't even bothering to ask about Edwards. In fact, the next question..,
that question is
- Suppose the only Democratic candidates were Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Which of those two would you support?
and the next...
That's followed by two more questions... one asking if they think Obama has a clear plan for handling three specific issues (Economy, Iraq, Health Care), and the next asking if Hillary has a clear plan for those same issues... no question about whether Edwards has a clear plan, tho....
and it gets only worse.
IMHO, this is pretty outrageous --- ESPECIALLY when this poll was conducted the day AFTER the results of the New Hampshire primary made complete asses out of every pundit and political bloviator in the country.
I mean, this is the guy who came in second in Iowa --- and was showing a lot of momentum....until media coverage of Hilbama literally shut him out of the coverage leading up to the NH vote.
Personally, I think Edwards should schedule a press conference and make this a huge issue (not just about him, but also about Thompson being excluded from GOP questions). He should tell South Carolinians that they are going to be hearing a lot of talk about how crucial SC will be to the Clinton and Obama campaigns -- and tell them that's a lie -- that both campaign will go full steam ahead into Super Tuedsay, regardless of the outcome. Then he should tell them that the SC is crucial in a different way-- to our Democracy, and making sure that its the American people and not the media who decides who the next President will be. And then he should ask Democrats to vote for him, and Republicans to vote for Thompson, in order to send the message to the media that they obviously didn't get in New Hampshire....
