Hillary's people, in this case, the teacher's union in Nevada, has filed suit in federal court (NYT ) to bar Culinary Workers Union members from voting at their job sites. Last year, the Democratic Party had designated the large resorts as "at large" districts so that maids, waiters, dishwashers, laundry workers and other low-paid resort laborers could vote without taking time off. That was just fine with the Party's establishment, Hillary crowd until it became clear that those voters were going to vote for Obama. Now, they are going to court to stop them from voting!
Update: See this site for a more adult diary on this matter.
This is yet another example of the Clinton's willingness to say and do anything to get elected. Certainly, Hillary is not on the board of that teacher's union, and her staff members are (probably) not among those Nevada Democratic Party big-wigs who signed on to the lawsuit, but you can be damn sure the Clinton machine had a part in it.
This assault on Democratic Party values is just the most recent (and outrageous) of the Clinton's slimy tactics designed to neutralize Obama: In addition to the appeal to racism that is implicit in both Clinton's recent remarks, there is a relentless effort to miss-characterize Obama's history, votes and words. Bill's "fairy tale" remark is just one example. They KNOW that Obama has always opposed the invasion and occupation of Iraq but they deliberately tried to obscure that fact by citing his vote to support the troops that are already there.
They KNOW that Obama has always supported a woman's right to choose, but they deliberately tried to obscure this fact by citing his tactical votes in the Illinois legislature.
The Clintons, unable to shake the powerful appeal of Obama's message of (real) change, instead have resorted to Rovian tactics of lies and smears ... the very essence of the corrupt and paralized system that Obama would put behind us. Now, they are enlisting the courts in order to prevent Obama supporters from voting.
The Clintons, in their relentless ambition, have become part of the problem, not the solution.
