There's been a veritable firestorm of candidate diaries here on Daily Kos, each arguing why Edwards is the most pure choice, or why Obama will bring true change, or how Clinton has what it takes to win in November. And there have been calls for peace and an end to the bitter infighting. But despite these calls, I feel compelled to write about the candidate I feel we should be supporting: Uncommitted. Here's why...
- Uncommitted has proven that he is a top-tier candidate by his strong showing in Michigan, despite almost no campaigning until the last week before the election, and despite spending almost no time or money in the state. Despite a virtual media blackout and despite being shut out of every debate, fully 40% of voters chose Uncommitted, earning him... well... no delegates... but that will change with the momentum he has picked up in Michigan!
- Uncommitted has wide appeal among both parties, and the backing of democratic leaders. He is the only candidate who has managed to earn a place on both the Republican and Democratic ballots, but earned the endorsement of officials from both the Edwards and Obama campaigns, who urged their supporters in Michigan to come out in support of Uncommitted. This speaks to the liberal credentials of Uncommitted, despite his unorthodox and often silent campaigning methods.
- Uncommitted has never supported Bush's tax cuts, the Iraq war, or any of the other debacles in recent years. In fact, he's never held even a single position that any Democrat could fault him for, because his position on every major issue can be described as, well... uncommitted.
- Uncommitted has not accepted any campaign donations from lobbyists or big business. His campaign is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.
So join me, and support Uncommitted for president.
