Remember our friend, John Bambenek? The clown who filed an FEC complaint against Kos, and then complained to the Michigan Attorney General? It seems that he may himself have violated the law in actuality by engage in such banality during work time.
First, John Bambenek is an employee of the University of Illinois, a state university, and is a well-known kook there. The University is bound by the ethics act as are its employees. In fact, Bambenek is required to take annual ethics training (and filed a federal lawsuit last year to get out of it).
The ethics law is 5 ILCS 430/5-15. The important part is here:
Sec. 5 15. Prohibited political activities.
(a) State employees shall not intentionally perform any prohibited political activity during any compensated time
Not only has bambi been running around harassing Kos during working hours, on Monday at 11am Central (well within the workday) he was on WKRS talking about open primaries and Illinois law advocating for changes in how elections work in Illinois. This is clearly against Illinois law and there is no dubious logic required to see that.
To show Bambenek what a legitimate complaint is, we should all file complaints with the Illinois Inspector General and let a little karma go a long way. For a little extra stick-it-to-the-wingnut, he holds a professional certification that requires ethical behavior. To file a complaint to have his professional certification revoked, go here.
If you are tired of wingnuts filing frivolous suits and think they deserve a dose of their own medicine, let's show Bambenek how it feels.
