Like the way the war is going in Iraq?
Think the surge has really worked wonders?
Just counting the days until we get a Democratic president who ends the war? Confident that will happen?
Then Friday will just be business as usual.
But if you've had enough bloodshed from Bush and enough polite pussyfooting by the Democrats, consider joining people across the country on Iraq Moratorium #5 in calling for an end to the war and occupation.
You don't have to set your hair on fire to participate.
You don't even have to stand on the corner with a sign in the dark or the cold, although many people will do just that on Friday, from Vermont to California and a lot of places in between.
You can see a list of the events -- currently at 82 and still growing -- on the Iraq Moratorium website, along with reports, videos and photos of past actions and ideas and tools for participating.
It's a simple idea. On the Third Friday of every month, it asks people to do something -- anything -- to show their support for getting our troops out of Iraq.
It can be as simple as wearing a button or armband to work or school, or as dramatic as confronting a military recruiter, sitting in at a Congressional office, or anything else that strikes your fancy. There is no prescribed activity. Just do something.
If you can't do anything else, give a few bucks to the Moratorium or another peace group working to end the war.
This war is not going to stop anytime soon, and it's not going to stop automatically, no matter who the next president is.
We've got to keep the issue in front of the voters, and keep the pressure on the candidates.
It's got to stop. We've got to stop it.
If you think nothing you do will matter, don't do anything. But the premise of the Iraq Moratorium is that doing something is far more likely to have an impact than doing nothing.
Please do something -- whatever you're comfortable with -- on Friday.
