People keep looking for our JFK, but we already found him.
His name is Barack Hussein Obama.
Want to know the only reason he isn't blowing away the primary process?
He's a black man named Barack Hussein Obama. It's nice to pat yourself on the back and say that doesn't matter anymore. But it does. He is such an excellent candidate that he's still in it in spite of that fact, not because that fact doesn't matter.
Does anyone seriously doubt that if Barack Obama was a white guy named John Smith there'd be any chance he wouldn't get the nomination?
Well, not me. I prefer to be a realist. Realistically speaking, Obama had an uphill battle from the start just because of who he is. The fact that he has beaten the odds and risen to the point where the nomination is still within grasp in a very real way speaks volumes about his abilities as a candidate.
Now, Obama may very well end up winning. And many of us will pat ourselves on the back, and decide that we are past race. And perhaps after eight years of Barack Obama, we'll have come a long way from where we are now. Perhaps it will be a self-fulfilling prophesy.
But.
We are not there yet. And to think otherwise would be foolish.
I honestly want to know...
UPDATE: Interesting that so many people would say no... Is that how you really feel? I challenge you to try to explain that in the comments, lets have a discussion.
