I'm watching the New Zealand State Funeral for Sir Edmund Hillary and I'm moved.
Sir Ed belonged to all of us: his honors and medals came from all over the world.
He was an everyday hero. He wasn't bigger than life, but his joy of life was large enough to embrace those around him.
When I think of his body in the casket, I weep at the loss of one of humanity's best: a man who achieved greatness not only for himself, but for everyone who was a part of his life.
Goodbye Sir Ed, you will be missed.
