The latest Robert Greenwald documentary: http://warongreed.org/ is a must see video.
A CEO, being paid $51,000/hour is taxed at a lesser rate (percentage wise) than a "worker bee" earning less than $50,000/year. Corporate loopholes, wealth transfers – ‘Reverse Robin Hood’: where money from the poor & middle class is given to the super rich -- etc., combined with Bush’s give-away of our national resources to corporate cronies all contribute to the bankrupting of this nation.
The primary reason I support John Edwards is that he fights passionately for the dignity / rights of workers and against entrenched corporate interest.
John Edward’s plans for health care and his agenda to build One America where every American has a fair chance to build a better life has resulted in praise by Martin Luther King’s son and the enmity of big corporations / lobbyists.
"I believe that now, more than ever, we need a leader who wakes up every morning with the knowledge of that injustice in the forefront of their minds, and who knows that when we commit ourselves to a cause as a nation, we can make major strides in our own lifetimes. My father was not driven by an illusory vision of a perfect society. He was driven by the certain knowledge that when people of good faith and strong principles commit to making things better, we can change hearts, we can change minds, and we can change lives.
So, I urge you: keep going. Ignore the pundits, who think this is a horserace, not a fight for justice. My dad was a fighter. As a friend and a believer in my father’s words that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, I say to you: keep going. Keep fighting. My father would be proud".
Sincerely,
Martin L. King, III
The following DailyKos diaries: Big Business puts John Edwards on Notice and The Big Money Blackout of John Edwards, indicate how the corporate media colludes to prevent John Edwards’ populist message from being heard by the general public.
A NY Times Op-ed asserts:
"Big business and the federal government have worked hand in hand to squeeze the daylights out of working people, stripping them (in an era of downsizing and globalization) of much of their bargaining power while ferociously pursuing fiscal policies that radically favored the privileged few..."
The excerpt above illustrate how ‘voodoo’ Reaganomics—ie. tax cuts to the wealthy will "trickle" down to the rest of us—has failed and why we desperately need a champion for the working class—John Edwards.
In stark contrast to the Reagan legacy of ‘stagnant wages, widening inequality, the glorification of greed and debt, etc.’, Edwards’ offers a vision of a more beneficent government that works for the public interest a.k.a. the common good.
A John Edwards’ presidency would focus on leveling the playing field and give people, not multinational corporations, a fair opportunity to make our lives and the lives of our children better.
