Apparently, Sam Graves is the Bush Administration's favorite Congressmen. Last summer, President Bush and Graves ate biscuits together at a restaurant in the district. Last fall, Dick Cheney rolled into townto raise money for Graves. And last week, Graves announced that the President is coming in for a fundraiser on Graves announced that the President is coming in for a fundraiser to prop up his flagging reelection bid.
Graves has drawn his strongest challenger yet in 2008, former KC Mayor Kay Barnes. Barnes is running an energetic race, and is campaigning in all the counties in the vast district. So far, she has kept pace with Graves in fundraising through grassroots outreach, raising over $150,000 on ActBlue.
The campaign has set a goal of raising $15,000 by Feb 1, the date of Bush's fundraiser. If even just a few Kossack's chip in and help raise money, they should blow past that total. Here is the donation link on the Kay for Congress website site, and here is my own ActBlue page I just set up today to help raise funds for Kay. Let's show some support and help turn this R+5 district blue.
