The whole idea of a partisan site repulses me.
And while I am a liberal progressive on a majority of issues, on some I could be (shock!) classified as right wing or even fascist.
Labels are false - to judge a person, ask him questions on various issues, and then you might be able to say "He is liberal on majority of issues, but centrist or right wing on such and such issue".
That is why this site is not for me.
America needs a counter weight to its "news" shows, the pundits, the "experts".
But here is the question - does it need a left wing anti-FOX News TV channel? Many of you will probably answer yes - I disagree.
To me Air America and DailyKos are becoming only slightly less abhorrent than the FOX "News", MSNBC's of this world. They are pushing an agenda - an agenda I happen to like a hell of a lot more than any bile FOX or Rush Limbaugh spews out, to be sure - but an agenda never the less.
America has a political system with two parties.
One is a crazy, insane right wing party that borders on fascism.
The other is a very right leaning centrist party.
By any other nation's standards, we have two right wing parties in this country, except one is much more saner than the other.
In America, what passes for a Centre-right party passes for a left wing.
And this blog is all abuot supporting one of these right wing parties.
I do not think Obama or Hillary will be that much of an improvement over a republican president. They are still and will be in the future paid by the same lobbyists, beholden to AIPAC interests, pursuing the same imperialistic US policy simply because, with its huge Armed Forces and need for oil, America has to. And anybody watching the TV coverage senses that the script is pre-written for one of the two corporate approved democratic candidates.
I did not hear a peep from Obama or Hillary about US dependence on oil and how to reduce it. I did not hear a specific plan on what to do with the occupation of Iraq. I did not hear how America expects to deal with Israel, Palestine and the whole Middle East.
And frankly, just because Obama is a great public speaker - and Hillary is only slightly worse - does not mean that one of them will make a great president.
We used to be taught to "Watch what a politician does, not what he says!".
Thanks to bush, we have fallen so low that we get orgasmic when a presidential candidate speaks proper English.
Speaking of proper English, my second to last diary here had an unintentionally hilarious title due to a lack of a coma. After a few users' comments I realized the mistake, but left it alone just to see what will develop. All the following users comments dealt with that title, and none dealt with the diary itself. One user even called me insane for the comments I posted. Perhaps for DailyKos people, I am. Who knows.
The diary was about how, lately, DailyKos diaries were basically all propaganda (best case scenario) or (worst case) smear hit jobs on democratic candidates. Having say 10 diaries in the recommended list, and only one of which was not dealing with Obama, Clinton or Edwards rubbed me the wrong way.
The interesting thing is, that the poll I provided proved that the majority who happened upon my blog post here agreed with my premise...
I am posting this at 3AM. That means no one will read this post.
Doesn't matter. This is mostly for me anyway.
I invite, whomever reads this, to my blog, which has a miniscule readership of 50-100 people per day, and 500+ on a really good day if reddit or digg likes a post (doesn't happen to often). I will no longer post here as AmericanGoy, but will check up as just another anonymous user from time to time.
