I have been a passive part of this community since for years. DailyKos has been my homepage since November of 2003 when I was teetering between General Clark and Dr. Dean. I feel like I have been stealing from all the great minds that grace the front page and the recommended diary list, reading most the entries but not feeling my ideas or opinions were valuable enough to even post a comment.
Tonight lit a fire under my ass. I was confident Senator Obama would have a solid win, give a nice speech and get a bump going into Super Tuesday. I did not imagine he would have had such a decisive victory and so eloquently depict a truly moving vision for what could be, what should be the America we all so desperately love.
John Edwards got my vote in the MN primary in 2004, even after Kerry had the nomination pretty much locked up. And he was my number one choice this year, until tonight. JRE is still a terrific ambassador and spokesman for the middle class and the poor, but this party and this country needs a President who will restore the confidence of the American people and the respect of the world.
I just sent $50 to Obama, which is more than I can really afford at the time, but I was just so moved and inspired I felt it was the least I could do. And Caroline Kennedy's endorsement only reinforces my belief that this is the right person for the job.
I will do everything in my power of the next nine days to make sure all my friends, family and neighbors go out and cast a vote for Barack Obama on February 5 and propel him into the White House.
In the meantime I will continue to lurk, as so many of the readers do, but now may be compelled to toss out a comment or two. Hopefully we can elevate the discussion and tone down the rhetoric when discussing the merits of our worthy and able candidates.
