Candidate diaries seem to come in two kinds: ones where the diarist has already decided on their candidate and tries to convince everybody to agree with them, and ones where the diarist describes their own decision.
Many of the diaries that try to be convincing are, well, almost repulsive. Maybe, MAYBE a series of two dozen photos of Obama helps solidify the support of people who already support him, but for people on the fence, it's a little creepy. The "Your Guy is More Dishonest Than My Guy" ones are just disgusting. Let's not even get into the whole "Surrender Now, Dorothy" genre. The comments in these diaries usually add a lot more heat than light to the debate, too.
On the other hand, in every time someone describes their own decision, it's a lot more measured. I always get the impression that the diarist has looked at both candidates, acknowledges each of their real strengths, and came to a conclusion, well, rationally.
I'd just like to thank everybody for THINKING about this decision. For wading through all the bull about how Obama hates teh gay, and Hillary is an evil corporatist, and paying attention to the facts. For not voting for the guy you'd like to have a beer with. The results of this election are going to be scary-important for the country's future; thank you for being careful about who we elect.
