I want to open a discussion; can Obama make inroads with older women voters? I'm a white male supporting Obama, I believe he is one of the most inspirational candidates I've seen in my life. His speeches on hope and the 'yes we can' spirit, are simply extraordianry. I do hope his campaign and rheotrical acumen will equate to great presidential leadership, but the real question right now is; how does he win over Mom?
" ... the older women who have embraced Mrs. Clinton as the culmination of years of hope...are no less passionate in their intensity and devotion."
I do believe it is time for a Woman president, but I don't think we can pass this moment, pass this candidate in Obama, so how could he sway more women in the upcoming elections, or can he?
To me, Obama needs to put more focus on the plight of Women, but highlight that the 'hope' of Women for their own leader would be misplaced in Clinton. She has been too harden by the way 50% of this country treat women in everyday social situations. Her whole behavior and political disposition was created out of her own struggle, we shouldn't look negatively at it, just accept it. But is that the leader the Women are looking for, hard, ready to fight, without true compassion?
If Obama can change the electorate the way he describes, and by returning this country to the economic and political success we observed prior to the Bush administration, that would make way for a true leader of Women, not one modeled after Margaret Thatcher, rather more like Benezir Bhutto.
But heck I'm not a woman, what do I know?
