Dear Hillary:
You made a very good point yesterday. A lot of your supporters will be disenfranchised come caucus time because they are working folks who don't have the ability to take off work or get childcare to attend the caucuses.
Though entirely true, this statement raised an awful lot of questions in my mind. Such as, since when did you corner the working people's votes? Or, when did you experience this revelation about how fundamentally unfair caucuses are? And, finally, why were you not quite so interested in enfranchisement when it came to hotel workers caucusing in Nevada?
But, Hillary, I digress. It ain't beanbag. And you are more than permitted to, in the words of your husband, "do what [you] gotta do" to secure the nomination.
Still, I'm troubled. And I want you to put my fears to rest. I want you to show me that you are the real deal. In short, I want you to take on the biggest unjust voting scam in the history of the modern Democratic Party.
I want you to take on Superdelegates...
Speak truth to power and expose to the world just how unfair the Superdelegate system really is.
This should be easy for you. I mean these Superdelegates are, for the most part, really, really rich. They have the time and money to spend 4 days in Denver...going to cocktail parties, wearing expensive clothes, staying at the nicest hotels, and -- as a side gig -- deciding who our nominee is. What's worse, they probably do all of this on our dime! While I, and just about every Democrat I know, will have to satisfy myself with a single vote, a little bit of cash, and what free time we have.
The injustice!
But it gets worse, Hillary! These 800 some (do I count Michigan and Florida?) folks have more power than all the Democrats in California, New York, and Illinois...combined!
Since I'm heartened by your willingness to stick up for the rights of the little people, I'm sure I can count on you to step up to the plate and expose this injustice for what it is.
No, not at the convention and when it suits your political needs, but right now, this moment, before you know whether this particular injustice cuts for or against your fight for the nomination.
You do this Hillary and I'll switch from Obama immediately. You'll get my undying dedication, free time, and money. Hell, you'll immediately win converts here, there, and all over the place. You will show yourself to be who you say you are, and not just the beneficiary of the Democratic Party's biggest, wealthiest, and best run machine who will say anything at any time to score a few points. Even when it means telegraphing to your supporters that the "other half" of the party really are all just latte sipping, Thurston Howell-esque, proto-Republicans deserving of mockery and scorn.
I'm not holding my breath.
