I've asked you several times to take me off your e-mail distribution list, but you still subject me to your forwarded messages with wacko right-wing talking points. A long time ago I stopped sending rebuttals because they only made you more eager to bombard me with this garbage. But the sheer volume of right-wing idiocy has finally made me snap. Let me summarize the way I perceive your ideology.... (jump)
Violating the rights of Americans to habeas corpus, a centuries-old cornerstone of our legal system, doesn't bother you.
Violating the Geneva Conventions against torture, a part of U.S. law, doesn't bother you.
Violating people's right to the privacy of their telephone conversations and e-mails doesn't bother you.
All of these rights you freely waive for the rest of us in the name of combating what you call Islamofascism.
However, you refuse to yield on the following issues:
- Raising taxes on fuels to encourage conservation
- A carbon tax to try to prevent global climate change (which you don't believe is caused by humans)
- Government encouragement of development of alternative energy sources
These three measures would all help dry up funds for the Middle Eastern folks who are supporting what you call Islamofascism. You get in a terrible lather about Islamofascism, but you still oppose these measures.
Can it be a coincidence that these three measures would diminish the profits of the oil companies? And can it be a coincidence that all of your talking points are identical to those promulgated by foundations that are bankrolled by the big oil companies?
I don't think so.
