I've just gone along with the flow of people liking Kathleen Sebelius. I can't say I was impressed with her endorsement of Obama. But on the whole, I thought she was OK.
This story, however has me reeling back more than a little. Her son is selling an extremely tasteless board game called "Don't Drop the Soap" out of the Governor's Mansion (which I didn't think was even legal).
The Kansas City Pitch describes it much better than I could.
The Idiot Son: A Board Game
Published: February 7, 2008
The son of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has made up his own board game called "Don't Drop the Soap." Which is funny because it's about prison rape! John Sebelius created the game as an art-school project and now is selling it online for $34.99. The game puts players in a prison where they have to avoid becoming somebody's bitch in the shower. Which is funny because John's mom has the power to try to stop prison rape!
Maybe I'm oversensitive, but this doesn't seem like the sort of "Fun" I'd expect from the child of a respected Democrat -- especially a Democrat who at one time or another has been mentioned on just about every list of possible Vice Presidential Nominees. If one of my kids -- adult or not had come up with this idea, I'd have done everything in my power to discourage it. And I certainly wouldn't allow it to be sold out of my house.
It represents everything I hate about the insensitive elite who represent us harkening back to Candidate Bush's cruel humor:
From Consortium News:
In an interview with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson at the start of Campaign 2000, Bush joked about how condemned murderer Carla Faye Tucker pleaded for her life with him as Texas governor. "Please don't kill me," Bush whimpered through pursed lips in an imitation of the woman whom Bush put to death.

Sebelius' son sells game out of Cedar Crest

"Don't Drop the Soap," a new, adult-themed board game based on life in prison, is being sold out of the Kansas governor's mansion.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and her husband, Gary, support the efforts of their 23-year-old son John Sebelius in creating and marketing the game, Sebelius spokeswoman Nicole Corcoran said Friday.
"Kathleen and Gary are very proud of their son John's creativity and talent," Corcoran said. "He began this game as a class project at the Rhode Island School of Design, and he's now turned into an entrepreneur."
John Sebelius sells the board game and hand-designed men's and women's apparel on the Web site at www.gilliusinc.com of Gillius Inc., for which he is chief executive officer.
"There are no employees," Corcoran said. 'It's just a 23-year-old young man who had an idea and decided to market it."
The Web site says John Sebelius can be contacted at 1 S.W. Cedar Crest Road in Topeka, which is the address of the governor's mansion.
"This is where he lives," Corcoran said. "It's his permanent address at this time, and he was advised by an attorney to register to be incorporated. It's listed on the Web site only as to where to contact John personally. Once he moves to a different residence, the address will change."

I know I'm just one person. And I tend to be way out of step with popular opinion. But I think this is a career killing decision. How can good progressives support the political future (whether for V.P. or Senate) of a woman who's allowed this game to be sold out of the Kansas Governor's mansion?
