The utter incompetence of the Bush/Cheney Administration has long been acknowleged by the entire world with the exception of a small sliver of Republican Party members in the US who overdosed on Fox News koolaid a long time ago.
The Hillary "experience" and "ready on day one" memes are actually intended to position her as the "Competent Candidate" that the public thirsts for after the W fiasco.
Her attacks on Obama's lack of experience, foreign policy softness and inferior knowledge of the nitty gritty of various domestic issues are intended to paint Obama as the "Incompetent Dreamer" who is another "roll of the dice" just like Bush was.
Well, running successful campaigns is one measure of competency. Today with 19 victories in his pocket versus Hillary's 10 and with no need to "shake up" his smoothly functioning campaign machine, it seems clear that as of now Obama must be given the "most competent campaign director" award.
A competent politician running for national office must be able to do an incredible number of difficult things well including creating a huge organization out of thin air; motivating, selecting and directing skilled and effective campaign executives; fashioning and executing winning election strategies; imagining and effectively articulating persuasive campaign themes; integrating a myriad of organization components into a cohesive machine; building a complex campaign structure in state after state; husbanding and targeting critical reources of staff, money and time; raising enormous amounts of money in a very short time; going before the public on a daily basis and convincing people to give their support; keeping a bloodthirsty press at bay; etc., etc.
Of course the ultimate measure of competency for a political leader is winning.
It is actually amazing to consider Obama's campaign achievements compared to the vaunted Clinton juggernaught honed by decades of electoral experience in Arkansas, New York and two national races. In a period of a few short months, Obama has set aside all of Clinton's supposed advantages and is now her equal and perhaps her better.
Amazing!
Kind of makes you wonder what he will be able to do when he gets to Pennsylvania Avenue!
