I wonder, to what extent Sen. Clinton and Obama could have influenced the outcome of the FISA vote today, if they had given it the attention on the stump that this grave issue warrented. I would bet they could have stopped this thing DEAD in its tracks, if either of them thought it would help them get votes. Sadly, the two players with the biggest microphone sat largely silent throughout this debate. Kudos for Obama for at least showing up to vote today, but he was capable of so much more. I'm left with the distinctly sour taste of a lack of leadership from our two candidates on this issue. Where is the audacity? And what good is competence and experience if you cannot derive visionary leadership from it?
It could have been so different.
