I keep hearing surrogates and followers creating this meme about disenfranchising all those poor Florida and Michigan voters and how even though Hillary signed the agreement she never meant it to, you know, "disenfranchise" them. More over the fold.
So the word is that she
A- Signed on but really didn't agree with the agreement
B- Doesn't want to disenfranchise all those wonderful voters
C- Wants to make sure that voters know she understands their concern
D- She won Florida and Michigan
E- The delegates must be seated because they voted "in good faith"
Does that about cover the BS spin coming from the campaign?
Say No! No Atwater! No Rove! No Lies! No Twisting the truth! No Shit!
They need to understand that there will be a cost for underhanded bad faith tactics. But what to do?
Do these people have no shame?
Did anyone see her surrogate Lisa Caputo, Press Secretary to Hillary at the White House. She was on The Situation Room last night, and she stated without reservation to Wolf Blitzer that Hillary had "won" Florida and Michigan and that they should be seated for her. He was shocked at her absolute certainty, and tried to point out that they were not actual votes, that no one had run, that they were beauty contests and that Obama was not actually on the Ballot in Michigan and she replied not once but several times "Hillary won, they should be seated."
We need to as Democrats, decide what to do to keep this from becoming a fight that we all lose. They are out there setting up a meme that, once it hardens in the public consciousness, will be hard to undo. And even if we follow the rules we all lose because they are busy changing perceptions and context.
And if there is one thing we should all know from the past two campaigns, lies and half truths stated often enough with conviction, become communal absolute truths.
