The Republicans highlight
why they’re scared of Democrats winning at the local level.
They get it. State legislatures are the "farm team" of future national leaders. About half of all governors and Members of Congress started at the state legislative level. Many key Democratic wins in 2006 came at the hands of former state legislators.
Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe.
Montana U.S. Senator Jon Tester.
Indiana Representative Baron Hill.
Bad news for the RSLC—state legislative Democrats and the DLCC are on a winning streak.
And we need to keep it going. Democrats have a lot on our plate this year. A shot at the White House. Defending our Congressional majorities. Governors’ races.
But we can’t lose any ground in our state legislatures. Not this close to redistricting.
Listen to our Chair discuss the effect of the 2006 victories and the outlook for 2008.
