We know the Main Stream Media. Its the TV stations, cable channels, movie studios, newspapers and magazines owned or following the party line of the six majors: GE, Westinghouse, Viacom, Disney, Time Warner, News Corporation.
These media follow an agenda blessed by corporate capital. Keep them entertained, split them with "values", hide any populist talk, ridicule progressive leaders.
For 30 years the MSM has promoted its message: The market best allocates capital; government can't do anything right. Government is the problem, not the solution.
Well guess what? The folk are beginning to wise up. We can help open their eyes by always referring to "The Corporate Media", or CM. Always give the media its proper name: Corporate Media. This name is already catching on as seen in this piece from Harvey Wasserman "There’s nothing mainstream about the corporate media" in the Free Press. Also in this piece by David Swanson.
Let the people know that anyone who speaks or writes on the CM about politics, the economy, or the government is working for their corporate owners. Period. Anything your hear on Fox or Clear Channel is tainted.
Our objective is to erode the brand value of the corporate media. If you heard it on the Corporate Media it is second rate. If you heard it or saw it on the corporate media it comes from the Money Party, it speaks for the contractors, lobbyists, and corporate toads feeding off the defense and security budgets or wall street manipulators.
Fox has already taken a hit below the water line. Fox is losing viewers and profit. Fox viewers are tuning out the spew of right wing propaganda. This is where the Corporates are vulnerable. When we discredit (and ridicule) the main stream media, we sap their viewers and profit.
So call them the Corporate Media. It is now evident to the listeners and watchers that Bush, the corporations, and their bought and paid for media have wet the bed. Now is our opportunity to discredit the whole bunch. We need to be like termites. Weaken the structure. Get the message out. Smart viewers don't watch or read the Corporate Media. If you want real news or shows, its on the web. Its the Indies. Its from Europe or Asia. Democrats and progressives can compete on the wired and mobile web.
Yes we can rename the entire CORPORATE MEDIA which speaks only for big capital, not for you.
