This is probably the last diary I'm gonna post on daily kos. Many of you know me as that overly zealous Hillary supporter. I've been called troll, political hack and my diaries never make it to the recommended list. I gained my fame with the diary "Leave Hillary Alone, She's a Human". I'm tired of the Clinton bashing on daily kos. I tried rather fruitlessly to get better coverage for her on this site but you would have none of it, you are determined to sink her campaign no matter what. I don't know what Mrs. Clinton have done to you, but she does not deserve this. I hold nothing against Barack Obama. I am smitten by him as much as you are but I will not engage in a cult of personality. The kind of vitriol leveled against the Clintons from Obama supporters on this site only shows the extent you are willing to go to undermine the former First Lady's Candidacy. It doesn't have to be that way. I will support Obama if and when he gets the nomination because the most important thing at the end of the day is having a Democrat in the White House next year whether you see it that way or not.
I am probably the least likely of Hillary supporters. Everything about my background should propel me towards Barack Obama. For all your information: I am a black, 20 year old college educated guy. I would love to see the day when an African American becomes President of the United States. For sure, Mr. Obama is well on his way to fulfilling that dream. He is the first African American Candidate who has a real shot at the White House and I would do anything I can to help him get there. Ideally, I would like to see him run as Vice President on a Clinton/Obama ticket. However I believe Hillary Clinton is the most qualified person in America to be President today. Barack Obama is promising but he needs a little bit more experience in my view. It's a fact that the black community has moved wholesale over to the Obama camp. In fact, almost all of my peers are supporting him but I am standing strong by Senator Clinton. I will never forget all the good that the Clintons did for our community during the 90s (at least from what my mom told me). After all Bill Clinton is often dubbed the "first black President".
I can't articulate exactly why I support Hillary. I couldn't even vote when she was First Lady. One thing I remember, everyone I know was much happier during the 90s. Times were much better then. I know that Hillary is a fighter. She fought for universal health care long before it was popular. The fact that the far right hates her makes me love her even more. I really believe only a Clinton can clean up after a Bush. I regard the Clintons in the same way the Repubs regard Reagan. I am appalled at how disrespectful some of you are toward this great Democratic family. Mr. Clinton probably wasn't a perfect President but he was the necessary anti-dote for America at the time after years of right wing Republican rule under Reagan-Bush. He could not be the liberal president he wanted to be. I think we should do more to protect and honor his legacy. He brought this country back to the center and Al Gore was supposed to bring us left of center but that didn't work out well did it. I am hoping Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama manages to do this if they win the White House. The country is ready for a progressive era.
I've given up fighting on this site. You are not sold on the Clintons and I can't make you. I'll probably succumb to the Obama wave eventually but for now and the near future, Hillary will always be my girl.
