There is no two ways around it; Barack Obama is the front runner for the Democratic nomination. Hillary Clinton isn't going to lay down without a fight, and she's preparing to make her last few stands in hopes of reversing the momentum and morale. Hillary Clinton's campaign has every right to attack Obama, since this is a competition, although they have had some difficulty in sticking with any one criticism for too long. Their most recent criticism ties into their argument that Obama is all talk, and to emphasize their argument, they point to the issue between Obama and McCain over public funding.
The story can be found here http://www.politico.com/... and elsewhere. The premise is that Obama said that if his rival going into November is accepting public financing for their campaign, his will do the same. Apparently, he may not since his campaign's grassroots fund-raising has changed the game so dramatically. John McCain has jumped on this issue, having determined that Obama is the likely front runner. The Republican is attacking the Democrat. No big surprise there.
What is a big surprise, and what should give pause to all of Hillary Clinton's supporters, is that she has sided with John McCain on this. Hillary Clinton, a Democrat, has joined with the Republicans on the criticism of a fellow Democrat. Yes, the Democrat in question is also her rival for the nomination. Yes, the Democrat in question is also out performing her on nearly all fronts. Yes, the Democrat in questioning is gaining both pledged and super delegates at a more rapid pace while Clinton has lost at least a few super delegates in the past few days. Yes, the Democrat in question is forcing Hillary Clinton to pull out all the stops.
You can tell a lot about someone by observing them when they are not winning. Hillary Clinton has effectively sided with a Republican over a Democrat for reasons other than ideals or policy. She has sided with a Republican for the sake of her floundering campaign for the Democratic nomination. She has given legitimacy to John McCain's attack. She has, once again, put the good of the party after her own ambitions. She keeps providing me with reasons to not support her, and she keeps proving Obama right that she really will say and do anything to get what she wants.
